About

Hello! This blog is a way for the members of the KIT List (www.KITlist.org) job opportunities community to share experiences and knowledge to help each other in job search or in finding and hiring top people…and other job seekers and hiring professionals are welcome, too!  Click here to join the KIT List.

Sue Connelly founded the KIT List in 1997 to “Keep In Touch” with her friends and clients at Silicon Graphics (SGI). It rapidly morphed into a job opportunities email list as Sue reached out to her network to help her SGI friends find jobs after major layoffs started with the company. Sue is not a recruiter or HR person, she is a marketing consultant who describes herself as “the accidental tourist on the Internet” when the list rapidly grew by simply word of mouth, and now has over 71,000 members!

The mission and spirit of the KIT List is to “Help Great People Find Great Jobs” and to find ways to connect people who are in the job search mode, to make the process less solitary, and share effective job search tips and techniques so that each person can find work that they’ll love. The KIT list serves not only the job seekers, but also the recruiters and human resources professionals who want to connect, share best practices and have a forum for tapping into the deep expertise within the KIT List community.

Sue’s “real” job is as a marketing communications consultant where she helps companies connect with their customers in ways that create loyal customers…and generate revenue (a good thing in this economy!). She also has a passion for sharing what she has learned working with some of the great companies in the Silicon Valley by teaching marketing best practices seminars to companies and universities to raise the bar of marketing expertise. The Connelly Communications services and client work is at www.connnellycom.com.

Howdy! I know this is kinda off topic however I’d figured I’d ask.
Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest writing a
blog post or vice-versa? My blog covers a lot of the same topics as yours and I believe we could greatly
benefit from each other. If you’re interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!

Hi Sue,

Responded to your post regarding donating to the Red Cross – thanks for doing that! Also just saw your note encouraging folks to be prepared for their own emergency.

For those of us living in the Bay Area, this is even more critical I just came across the following email describing certain lunar and tidal conditions that will occur this very weekend. Important to read and prepare just in case.

Hi,

This looks like a great blog and list, and it was recommended to me by a friend/classmate who saw it mentioned on the Wharton web site. Obviously you have put tons of effort into it. Would be helpful for newbies to know though — is it mostly California-focused? (I am not very familiar with Silicon Graphics but am guessing it’s in Palo Alto area.)

Hello Sue. More in this area is needed. The stats are really scary. In the last few months alone I have 5 friends who have been laid off and its seems everyone knows someone. A friend and I were so ticked off with the way we were treated and the lack of prospects we started a community of like souls to share experiences, tips and ideas and yes vent. Well I hope blogs like this nojobsurvivor.com can help.
