Day 4 of 5: Redirecting the Pay It Forward action to Haiti

14 01 2010

Hello Everyone,

With the generous spirit of the people joining the Pay It Forward effort to help friends find jobs, I wanted to provide some quick links to respond to the far greater need for help for the earthquake victims in Haiti.

A few years back, I was deeply touched by the KIT List people who pitched in for a Katrina Relief effort some friends organized in the San Francisco Bay Area to collect and send clothing and supplies to evacuees. That reinforced my conviction about the caliber and character of the people in our community!

With the recent earthquakes in California, we all realize that it only takes a moment to wreak massive devastation.

News reports say the best way to help the Haitian effort is through monetary donations. Here are some links to trusted charities:

The Red Cross – Text Donation:
To help with relief efforts, text “HAITI” to “90999” and $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross, charged to your cell phone bill. You can also give via phone at (888) 4-HELP-BAY or online.

American Red Cross – Disaster Relief Fund:

Catholic Relief Services:

Thank you, everyone!
